Electrician invoice template
Free: 3 PDFs every 24 hours
Electrical work is easier to explain later when labor, devices, and any permit money are not mashed into a single total. This template starts with a fictional GFCI install. Change the names before the file leaves your browser.
What goes on an electrician invoice
Bill the person or company that agreed to pay. If the general contractor hired you and the homeowner is only the site contact, the client name is the contractor and the site address belongs in the notes. Describe the work in words a non-electrician can follow: "install two GFCI receptacles and test the circuit," not "service call." Put hours in the quantity column when you bill by the hour. Put a flat trip on its own line when you bill a flat trip.
Materials should name the devices and rough counts. A customer who sees only "parts" cannot tell a $12 receptacle from a panel. If you passed a permit fee through, give it a line of its own and say it is a pass-through, not labor. Do not describe this PDF as a permit, an inspection sign-off, or a code certificate. It is a bill. The authority that inspects the work is not this website.
The editor on this page is the same one as the homepage. Basic downloads are free within a rolling 24-hour allowance: 3 PDFs, then the button stops until a slot is 24 hours old. It is not a midnight reset. Professional and Modern are a different drawing of the same invoice for $4.99 once. They do not add a customer list, reminders, or online card collection.
Required fields and payment terms
SwiftInvoicer requires a business name, a client name, and one priced line before it will build the PDF. For electrical work you should also fill the invoice number, both dates, and payment terms even though the form will download without them. Say when the money is due. Progress billing needs a note of what was finished and what remains, or the next invoice will look like a duplicate. Amount paid is where a deposit or a draw already collected belongs. Leave it at zero only when nothing has been paid.
Payment instructions should match how this customer actually pays you. A sentence such as "check to the business name above" is enough for many small jobs. A license or registration number, if your board expects it on the bill, goes in the tax or registration ID field so it prints under your address.
Common mistakes
Hiding a panel or a long list of devices inside one labor number. Forgetting to separate a quoted price from later time-and-materials extras. Reusing one invoice number across a service call and the return visit. Copying the sample phone number. Charging tax because the form had a number in it, without checking whether your state taxes the labor, the materials, or both. This page does not give that answer.
Read the PDF after it downloads. Long descriptions now wrap onto extra lines and extra pages. If a sentence is missing, it was not entered, not silently cut after the first line. You still only get 3 Basic PDFs in each rolling 24 hours.
